Mark Tatlow

Conductor and Educator

Mark Tatlow is a distinguished conductor and educator whose career is defined by a commitment to vocal excellence and historical authenticity. Formerly the Artistic Director of Drottningholm Palace Theatre and a Professor of Musical Performance at Stockholm University of the Arts, Tatlow has become a leading figure in the Nordic operatic scene.

His expertise lies in the integration of theory and practice; he is a specialist in 18th-century repertoire but is equally recognised for his work with contemporary opera. As a pedagogue, he has mentored generations of singers and conductors, emphasizing the psychological and physiological aspects of performance. Beyond the podium, Tatlow is a frequent collaborator with the International Vadstena Academy and is recognized for his innovative approach to Academy-style training, where he fosters a collaborative environment between emerging talent and established professionals.

"Conductor Mark Tatlow has sought out music by Georgiana’s contemporaries – Mozart and a couple of English composers among them – whose music she could have known. The result is an extraordinary entertainment that celebrates what an exceptional woman Georgiana was."
